Obsessive –Compulsive Disorder[1]

An obsessive-compulsive disorder is a preoccupation with specific thoughts, images, or impulses, and is accompanied by elaborate, and sometimes bizarre rituals.

It is more than simply being fastidious, as long as the behaviour does not interfere with your quality of life.

Signs of obsessive-compulsive disorder are:

The obsessive thoughts are persistent and intrusive.

You expend a great deal of energy suppressing the thoughts, usually without success.

You are generally aware that the thoughts are irrational.

The anxiety is temporarily reduced by a repetitive ritual, such as hand washing, or a thought ritual, such as praying.

The rituals are time consuming.
